On a visit to New Orleans a few years ago bought both 'Shine' and 'Heaven on a Half Shell' from the Louisiana Music Factory. Today I downloaded them to my iTunes (I'm still playing them) and visited Jeff's website only to find that he passed some years ago. So sad. The music lives on.

I saw Jeff sing more than once with Rocket 88 at Shakey Drakes in Flagstaff, AZ in 1979. I was a lovestruck college girl who spent an evening with him! After the band left town I felt so sad! I didn't know him well but his singing and musical talent was very apparent. My 18yr old daughter will be attending NAU in Flagstaff in the fall. I googled Shakey Drakes as it was an old hangout for me and my college friends and came across the news (albeit old) of Jeff's death. My condolences to all of his friends and family. It looks like he lead a very fulfilling life full of love and friends and family. Good for you Jeff!

Today, a very good friend of Jeff's and mine passed. Richard Drago. He was our first real friend in New Orleans. He was the man that got Jeff his first real paying gig in the big easy. He was the man who made sure that the funeral procession for Jeff went down Bourbon Street. He was our friend. His wife Darlene, my best friend, made sure that I got out of bed after Jeff passed, Richard and Darlene are one of the reasons I made it through. Richard you will be so missed. I recently heard about Jeff's passing from Bobby Blotzer and was also able to re-connect with Steve Conrad from Rocket 88 days. This was really sad news. Jeff and I continued to hang out after the band broke up, then drifted apart as careers, family, and time moved on. We took a wild trip to Mexico one time that was one for the books!

I found an old Rocket 88 cassette from Shakey Drakes in Flagstaff and am converting it to digital. If anyone wants a copy, let me know. Straight ahead bar band grooves, mostly featuring Jeff's singing!
